Auburn Baseball Players Decorated

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association named Auburn University's Hunter Morris to its All-American Team and Brian Fletcher to the All-American second team Wednesday.

Morris and Fletcher were chosen from players in 20 different conferences, according to the NCBWA.

First baseman Morris received the All American honor after being named the SEC player of the year earlier in the season.

Before earning his place on the All-American team, Morris led the SEC in total bases (202), home runs (23) and RBI (76), according to Auburntigers.com.

Fletcher also helped lead Auburn to the SEC West championship with a season-long performance that won him recognition as an All-SEC outfielder. Fletcher ended the season with a .357 batting average and 22 home runs, according to Auburntigers.com

Morris began his career lettering five years in high school, and as a member of Team USA, Morris contributed to a silver-medal performance during the World Games in Cuba.

Leaving high school, Morris held an impressive .470 career batting average with 46 home runs.

In his freshman year at Auburn, Morris made an impact with a team-leading batting average of .351. That performance earned him the SEC Freshman of the Year award and a place on the SEC All-Freshman Team. Morris was also honored that year as a Freshman All-American by the NCBWA.

While in his sophomore year, Morris hit .282 after injuring his back lifting weights during the season. After missing eight games, Morris recovered, ending the season with 12 home runs.

Fletcher lettered three years in high school and was picked by the Houston Astros in the 39th round of 2007 MLB draft.

In his freshman year at Auburn, Fletcher started 50 games and led the team in triples while hitting .346 in SEC regional play. His standout performance earned him a spot as a SEC All-Freshman outfielder.

Fletcher started 55 games his sophomore year and hit 17 home runs batting .301 after SEBaseball.com named him a preseason member of the All-SEC second team.

Both Fletcher and Morris are ending their Auburn careers at the conclusion of their junior year.

Morris was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers during the fourth round of the Major League Baseball draft on June 15. Morris, the 129th pick of the draft, has already signed with the Brewers.

Fletcher went to the Kansas City Royals in the 18th round of the draft, but remains unsigned.
