Former Auburn baseball player Josh Donaldson was named the starting third baseman for the American League team on Sunday night for the 2014 MLB All-Star Game.
Donaldson is in the middle of a breakout year, hitting 19 home runs with 62 RBIs for the Oakland Athletics, who have the best record in MLB.
The Mobile native played three seasons at Auburn before being drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the first round of the 2007 MLB Draft.
In his final season with the Tigers, Donaldson hit .349 with 11 HRs and 54 RBIs while playing both at catcher and third base.
Donaldson made his MLB debut on April 30, 2010 and recorded his first MLB hit on May 1, 2010: a two-run home run.
Donaldson converted to a third baseman full time in 2012.
The MLB All-Star game will take place on Tuesday, July 15, at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
