After falling to Clemson Friday night, Auburn defeated Furman 2-1 Sunday for their first victory of the 2014 season.
Kristen Dodson and Ashley Kotero were the goal-scorers for the Tigers, and goalkeeper Alyse Scott had three saves.
Auburn got off to another slow start, as Furman scored only a few minutes into the game on a counterattack.
The Tigers were able to take control afterwards, getting several opportunities the rest of the half.
They finally converted with 17 minutes left in the half, as Kristen Dodson scored on a header from five yards out.
Then with only seconds left in the half, Auburn scored again, as Haley Gerken was able to find Ashley Kotero on a free kick.
The Tigers went into the half with an 8-3 shot advantage over Furman, and three corners to Furman's one.
Auburn's first half goals were all the Tigers needed, as the defense held firm in the second half.
Auburn's next match is Friday at 7 p.m. against UC Irvine in Auburn. It will be the Tigers first home game.
