Former Auburn and longtime Tennessee Titans place kicker Rob Bironas died in a car accident Saturday night.
According to Metro Police, the fatal crash was a result of Bironas losing control of his Yukon Denali at 11:00 p.m. Saturday night, less than a mile from his Nashville home.
According to The Tennessean, Bironas had a blood alcohol content level of .218 at the time of his fatal accident.

Bironas' official twitter account posted this message Sunday morning; "It's with a heavy heart that we confirm the passing RB # .We appreciate your respect for the family's privacy and your prayers at this time."
The Titans, who Bironas played for from 2005-2013 posted their condolences to the team's twitter page saying "We are deeply saddened to hear the tragic news from last night about Rob Bironas. Rob made a significant impact as a player in his nine years with the teams and more importantly touched many lives in the Nashville community off of the field. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, Rachel, and his family during this very difficult time"
Several of Bironas' former Titan teammates tweeted their thoughts on his passing as well.
"Rest in peace to my former teammate Rob Bironas. Prayers go up for his family, friends, and loved ones. You will be def missed!," said cornerback Jason McCourty.
"Can't tell you how many games he won us over my seven years with him, but I can tell you he was a great teammate, father, husband, and friend. May your soul rest in peace and prayers go out to your family."
Bironas, who had 11-game winners during the time with the Titans, is survived by his wife Rachel, daughter of Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw.
