In a matchup between No. 4 Auburn and No. 5 SMU, the Tigers ran away from the Mustangs with a strong performance in hunt seat to win 14-6.
"It was a good win," said head coach Greg Williams. "This was kind of a measuring stick coming back from break."
The Tigers won eight out of the 10 events in hunt seat, winning both Equitation and Equitation over Fences by the score of 4-1.
"They (SMU) are such a good hunt seat team," Williams said. "I think they (Auburn) knew that SMU coming in was really strong, and they rose up today."
Auburn swept the Most Outstanding Player awards, with Demi Stiegler winning in fences, Elizabeth Benson in flat, Griffin Knight in horsemanship and Hailey Munger in reining, respectively.
The Tigers will host rival Georgia in their next match Feb. 14 at the Auburn University Horse Center.
