Men finish 9th, women 11th at 2015 SEC Indoor Championships

Track and Field

The Auburn men’s track and field team finished ninth at the 2015 SEC Track and Field Championships while the Tiger women finished 11th.

The Tigers sat in third and fourth respectively, but struggled on the second day of competition. The men finished with 34 points while the women closed with 21.

Senior DJ Smith earned Auburn’s only championship of the weekend, bringing home the high jump title.

Smith, who finished runner-up at last year’s SEC Championship, became the first Auburn SEC Champion in high jump since Donald Thomas took the event in 2007.

Teammate Shawn Johnson also finished fourth in the high jump.

Senior Ty McCormack earned the men six points with his third place finish in the 5000m. McCormack also placed fourth in the 3000m on Friday.

Samantha Scarlett finished fourth in the 60m hurdles.
