After returning home from shutting down Ole Miss last week, the Tiger’s brought their success back to Jane B. Moore Field with three consecutive wins on the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday, March 21.
In the first game of the double-header, Marcy Harper set the second-most strikeouts this season with five.
With a slower pace, the offense only scored Tiffany Howard in the first inning and wouldn’t score again until Kasey Cooper crossed the plate in the third.
To bring the Tigers the victory, Emily Carosone slammed a pitch out of the ballpark to bring in three runners, making it another grand slam for the nationally recognized batter.
The Tigers took the win, 4-1.
In the final match of the series, the Auburn offense took off from the start.
After allowing one run from the Wildcats, the Tigers responded with a six-straight run series, pulling the score to 6-1.
Lexi Davis then held down the fort with four straight scoreless innings, allowing the Tigers to bring in three more runs, including Jade Rhodes’ fourteenth home run of the season.
The Auburn defense then allowed six more runs from the Wildcats at bat, but it wasn’t enough to overcome their nine, taking the victory, 9-7.
The Tigers now stand with a 32-2 record as ninth overall in the NCAA.
