Daktronics Inc., Auburn's video board audio-visual systems contractor, successfully completed its final rounds of sound testing by gracing the Plains with sounds of football Thursday, Aug. 20.
For nearly 40 minutes, Jordan-Hare blared the familiar sounds of hype songs from artists Fetty Wap, Yung Joc and Ozzy Osbourne. The tests also included the university's fight song and a "War Eagle" from the voice of the Auburn Tigers, Rod Bramblett.
"All sound testing is complete from Daktronics stand point and everything went well," said Gregory Forthofer, Auburn University Facilities Management design project manager. Testing began Aug. 15 with low-level pink noise and remained that way throughout the week until Aug. 20.
"It's a new system, completely digital," said Forthofer. "It has a brand new interface and brand new speakers." It was the first time the new system was experimented on to match the sounds of a Saturday in the fall, and it was rewarding for the Daktronics crew.
The video board is still scheduled to make its first interaction with Tiger fans Saturday, Sept. 12 at 11 a.m. for Auburn's first home game of 2015 against Jacksonville State.
