The Auburn Tigers swept the Georgia Bulldogs Wednesday night in what was a must-win game for the Tigers. Coming off of two SEC losses, this win over Georgia put the Tigers back on track.

“Every win right now is something we have to earn,” said coach Rick Nold. "That's the fun part, we get challenged every night.”

The first set was a sloppy affair, as the Tigers couldn't get their offense going. It was clear Auburn was the superior team, but Georgia continued to hang around. Auburn closed the set on a 10-5 run, though, winning 25-20.

The second set looked to be a repeat of the first set. Auburn was slow until around the seventh point of the match, but after that, the Tigers never looked back.

The service game immediately improved immensely. Sophomore Jesse Earl tallied two aces in the second set to add to her four total aces, which helped lead the Tigers to a 25-14 victory.

Coming out of intermission, the Tigers didn't miss a beat. They continued their dominance in the service game and stepped up their play on defense and finally clicked offensively as well. The third set was another runaway performance, with a final score of 25-14.

Freshman Brenna McIlroy had her best match of SEC competition, recording her seventh double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore Courtney Crable again proved her offensive prowess, hitting .381 with 10 kills. Alexa Filley was one digit away from her 11th double-double of the year, but she did manage to rack up 29 assists and nine digs. Earl was all over the court, adding 13 digs to her four service aces.

The Tigers now enter into a rigorous three-game road trip beginning with LSU in Baton Rouge on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m.
