Tigers Sweep SEC Foe

Tigers down Gamecocks 3-0

The Tigers notched their first SEC road win on Friday night as they traveled to Columbia, South Carolina, to take on the Gamecocks. Juniors Emily Klitzke and Stephanie Campbell both performed at a high level as they led Auburn to the sweep.

The Gamecocks didn't go down without a fight as they were competitive in all sets and even fought off four match points in the third and final set. The Tigers did, however, put the game away in the third set by a score of 31-29.

Klitzke had a season-high 14 kills and only two errors for a season-best .545 hitting percentage. Campbell had 10 kills with no errors for a .667 hitting mark.

Other stars of the night included Courtney Crable and Alexa Filley; Filley followed up her big game against LSU with another dominating performance tallying 39 assists, three kills, seven digs and a block, while Crable continued her hot streak with nine kills and two blocks.

The Auburn defense played large factor in the team's success on the night. Both teams scored 46 kills, but the deciding factor was Auburn's 45-36 lead in digs. Sophomore Libero Jesse Earl led the Tigers' defensive effort with 17 digs.

The Auburn Tigers continue their road journey on Sunday in Gainesville, Florida, taking on the 17th ranked Gators.
