Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson became the second former Auburn baseball player to win the American League Most Valuable Player award on Thursday.

Donaldson, who played at Auburn from 2005-07, finished 81 points ahead of Anaheim Angels outfielder Mike Trout. He joins Frank Thomas, who was the American League MVP in 1993 and 1994, as the only former Tigers to win the award.

Donaldson hit .297 with 41 home runs, 123 RBIs and 122 runs scored in 2015.

During his time at Auburn, Donaldson batted .307 with 28 home runs and 122 RBIs.
