Report: Auburn hires director of player personnel from Arizona State

After Auburn snagged former player Kodi Burns from Arizona State University earlier this week to coach wide receivers, the Tigers have reportedly hired another Arizona State staff member.

Patrick Suddes, who has spent time at Alabama, Texas and Arizona State, will be named the new director of player personnel, according to a report by azcentral.com.

He will step into the role vacated last month by Casey Woods, who departed Auburn after three years in the position to coach inside receivers and tight ends at UAB.

"Good old Gus (Malzahn)," Arizona State coach Todd Graham told azcentral.com. "Gus and I are very close. Patrick is from Atlanta, Georgia, and it was obviously an opportunity that he couldn't pass up. It's what's best for his family. He's been here for two years and has done a great job for us. We're in great shape. We're going to be fine. You're going to have those kinds of things happen."

Suddes spent eight years working with Alabama coach Nick Saban, including when Saban was coaching LSU and the Miami Dolphins.

Before he became the assistant athletic director for recruiting at Arizona State, Suddes was the director of player personnel at Texas for a season under former coach Mack Brown.
