Former Auburn running back and Heisman Trophy finalist Tre Mason was arrested and charged with two misdemeanors and two traffic violations on Saturday near his home in Florida.
Mason is charged with resisting arrest without violence and possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis — both misdemeanors — as well as reckless driving and failure to register a vehicle, according to a report filed by the Broward County Clerk of Courts.
Mason was subdued by a taser after failing to cooperate with officers trying to arrest him, police in Hollywood, Florida, told the Associated Press.
The Los Angeles Rams tailback was allegedly traveling over twice the speed limit in a 35-mile-per-hour zone and, when officers pulled him over, allegedly refused to provide identification or cooperate with police.
He was transported to the hospital after being subdued by the stun gun and was released from police custody after bail was posted, according to the AP.
Mason starred at Auburn in 2013 and was the feature running back on a team that relied heavily on the read option. He racked up a school-record 1,816 rushing yards and tied the SEC single-season record with 23 rushing touchdowns while leading Auburn to the BCS National Championship Game.
