Men's golf in middle of the pack after first round of Seminole Intercollegiate

After a disappointing finish to its home tournament earlier this week, Auburn did not start off how it wanted to back on the road.

Auburn sits in eighth place after the first round of the Seminole Intercollegiate following a 2-over-par performance at the Southwood Golf Course.

Junior Will Long, who played on Auburn's B-team at the Tiger Invitational, led the Tigers on Day 1 with a 2-under 70, which left him tied for 10th place.

Senior Jake Mondy and junior Matt Gilchrest are tied for 33rd at 1-over, while sophomore Ben Schlottman recorded a 9-over 81 to finish tied for 75th.

All-SEC senior Michael Johnson had an up-and-down round, carding five birdies but finishing in a tie for 39th at 2-over.

Auburn is currently eight strokes back of the lead.

Two Auburn freshmen, Jacob Solomon and Graysen Huff, are competing as individuals. Solomon is tied for 12th at 1-under, while Huff is in a tie for 56th at 4-over.

Auburn will continue play at the 14-team tournament on Saturday.
