Jessie Johnson, Valentina Muzaric earn gold medals at Texas Relays

Two Auburn track and field athletes took home gold medals from the Texas Relays on Saturday, becoming the first individual champions at the meet since Maya Pressley won the high jump there in 2013.

Pole vaulter Jessie Johnson bested her own school record with a vault of 14 feet, 5.25 inches, while Valentina Muzaric won the shot put with a throw of 55 feet, 9.75 inches.

Johnson set her previous school record at the War Eagle Invitational last season. Her 4.40-meter vault currently ranks fifth in the nation. Muzaric moved into first place on her fourth throw and claimed the title with her fifth.

Senior Rachel Dincoff finished second in the discus with a throw of 181 feet, 11 inches. Her silver-medal throw was the second-best in school history behind only her own performance at last year's SEC Outdoor Championships.

Auburn will host the Tiger Track Classic next weekend, April 8-9.
