The football series between Auburn and Southern Mississippi will be renewed in 2018 and again in 2020 , the schools announced Thursday.
Both the 2018 and the 2020 game will be played on the Plains in Jordan-Hare Stadium. The matchup in 2018 will mark the 23rd addition of the series, the last resulting in a 27-13 victory for Auburn in 2008.
"I'm excited to announce the renewal of our long series with Southern Miss," Auburn Director of Athletics Jay Jacobs said in a statement. "I remember kicking off our 1983 SEC Championship season against the Golden Eagles. It’s fitting to announce these games one month before we each have a player enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Auburn's Kevin Greene, and USM's Brett Favre. I know Auburn people will enjoy welcoming the Golden Eagles back to Jordan-Hare in 2018 and 2020."
The 2018 game will take place on September, 29, and the 2020 matchup will take place on September, 26.
The current Tigers non-conference schedule:
2016/2017: Clemson
2018: Southern Miss
2019: Oregon
2020: Southern Miss
2021/2022: Penn State
2023/2024: California
