"The Walking Dead" star Chandler Riggs accepted into Auburn

The University is gaining star power in the upcoming semesters. 

Chandler Riggs, 17 year old actor starring in AMC’s television series “The Walking Dead” said via Twitter that he’s been accepted into Auburn.  

“Ayy i just got accepted into auburn” read the tweet posted on the evening of Sunday, Nov 6. 

Riggs was congratulated by his co-star Jonny Bernthal, or “Shane” as fans of the series would know him in another tweet the following morning.

“Atta boy C nice," Bernthal said. "Congrats on college. I’m proud of you buddy."

Riggs is originally from Atlanta where the television series is filmed.

Riggs started his acting career in 2010 at the age of 11 with a role in the Aaron Schneider directed movie, “Get Low”. 

Riggs stuck with the drama genre for his next job, which was a starring role in what quickly became the wildly popular TV series “The Walking Dead."

Filming began in the later parts of 2010 and the series is now in its seventh season.

“The Walking Dead” has become a pop culture phenomenon and has been nominated for 97 awards spanning across the entertainment industry.

Ben Farrow, junior in civil engineering, said he likes the idea of having a celebrity around. 

“I think its crazy” Garrow said. “He was just little Carl in the show and now he will be amongst us as a fellow Tiger. War Damn.”
