Steve Taylor, Director of the Bioenergy and Bioproducts Center, presents the Ebee senseFly drone to U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, during a UAS demonstration.

U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers will be on campus Tuesday.

The Auburn College Republicans will be hosting Rogers at their weekly meeting Sept. 18 at 6:30 p.m.

Rogers, a Republican, represents Auburn and the 3rd Congressional District in Congress.

The event will be in Dudley Hall's B6 auditorium.

College Republicans Chairman Seth Ingram said Rogers will speak for about 20 minutes and take questions. Rogers will likely touch on immigration, tax reform and his proposal for a Space Force, which President Donald Trump recently endorsed, Ingram said.

"I think it's always just good to see our congressman and to have him come back and communicate to students through something like this," Ingram said, "and for him to be visible to them and for them to be able to recognize who the congressman is and what he's trying to do in Washington."

No registration or RSVP will be required. The event will be open to all students.

Rogers is in the middle of election season, facing off against Democrat Mallory Hagan, a former Miss America who is seeking to unseat the eight-term congressman.

The two will face off in the midterm elections Nov. 6.

The Republican incumbent was first elected to Congress in 2002. He serves on the Armed Services, Homeland Security and Agriculture committees.
