Auburn may have found its replacement for Chandler Cox.

Arizona State graduate transfer Jay Jay Wilson committed to Auburn on Sunday after a visit over the weekend, a source has informed The Plainsman. 247Sports's Brandon Marcello was the first to report the news.

Wilson, a rising fifth-year senior, is an H-back prospect who is now the lone graduate transfer in Auburn's 2019 class. With the Sun Devils, Wilson also played tight end before moving to linebacker in the 2017 season.

Wilson became a beneficiary of the NCAA's new redshirt rule after injury and a one-game suspension kept him under the four-game threshold last year.

In his offensive career at Arizona State, Wilson caught five passes for 97 yards and a trio of touchdowns. At linebacker, he recorded 63 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumbled.

According to Marcello's report, Auburn expects Wilson to immediately compete in the summer with rising redshirt freshman Harold Joiner for the staring H-back role left vacant by Cox, who paved the way as the Tigers' lead blocker — and occasional passing game fixture — out of the backfield for the past four years (52 games, 41 starts).

“He’s a young man that if he has a good season, he’ll have an opportunity to play in the National Football League,” Sun Devils special teams coordinator Shawn Slocum told ArizonaSports.com last spring. “We’ve had a lot of conversations about that.”

Wilson becomes the 18th commitment in Auburn's 2019 class. Nine from that group are already on campus, and Wilson joins four-star wide receiver George Pickens as the only commits yet to sign their letter of intent. National Signing Day is Feb. 6.
