Auburn claimed the series win after a dominant 13-9 victory over UCF.

The game marked win No. 6 for the Tigers this season and was their 12th-straight win in a non-conference series since the beginning of the 2016 season.

Auburn’s offense ended with 15 total hits on the night, with Steven Williams and Matt Scheffler both tallying three hits. Judd Ward added two hits as well as a career-high three RBI in the game.

"Our team clicked and we fed off each other," Kason Howell said. "One guy would hit a line drive and another guy would hit a home run. We kept feeding off each other, great at-bat after another. It was really cool to see the whole lineup clicking on all cylinders."

This offensive dominance was matched equally by UCF, as neither team would go scoreless in the same inning until the fifth.

"Answering today, it was one of those back-and fourth affairs," said Auburn head coach Butch Thompson. “Conor Davis’s two-run home run after they scored the first run was huge in the ballgame. It was a really good battle for us. I learned my team will grind."

It was a constant race for the lead until Auburn’s four-run fourth inning, which would give the Tigers the lead for the remainder of the game. The fourth would see Rankin Woley hit his first home-run for Auburn en route to a 9-6 lead.

UCF fought back within one by the top of the sixth, but clutch play by Ryan Bliss would keep the Knights off the board. Relief pitchers Elliot Anderson, Richard Fitts, and Will Morrison would also come up big for the Tigers, allowing UCF only three runs in the final six frames.

Auburn now looks to carry over its fire power and clutch defense against Cincinnati. The Tigers will face off in a three-game series against the Bearcats at Plainsman Park starting March 1 at 6 p.m. CT.
