Auburn starting running back Boobee Whitlow has been cleared to play against LSU and has traveled with the team to Baton Rouge, 247 Sports's Brandon Marcello reported Friday afternoon.
Whitlow was injured in the loss to Florida three weeks ago and underwent knee surgery the following Wednesday. Malzahn said that week the tailback was expected out four-to-six weeks. According to the report, however, the redshirt sophomore is progressing much faster than expected.
It is still unclear as to Whitlow’s role in this weekend’s installment of the “Tiger Bowl." However, the numbers he has posted to through six games of health indicate that Auburn will likely be better off if he plays, if he truly is healthy.
Whitlow has recorded 544 yards on 110 attempts, averaging 4.9 yards per attempts, and recording seven touchdowns through only six games.
