The Auburn Police Division is investigating a shooting near the Evergreen apartment complex that left one person with non-life threatening injuries on Sunday.
Police said the suspect fled the scene, and he was carrying a handgun, according to an AU Alert email sent to all students, faculty and staff.
Police said the victim, 22, suffered a non-life threatening injury. The suspect and the victim know each other, police said, adding that the incident is "not believed to be a random act," but the "result of a dispute."
Police have not located the suspect, according to an AU ALERT.
Evergreen is located between The Beacon and the Starbucks located on South College Street.
The Plainsman spoke with two Evergreen residents who said they heard gunshots and subsequently called police.
“We were actually chilling in our apartment, and we heard three gunshots at first, then we heard two, then we heard one more seal it off,” said Joey Fairfax, a resident of Evergreen.
Maggie Himes, a resident of Evergreen, said she heard multiple shots and also called police.
Police were focusing their searches on the third floor of building four in Evergreen.
The case remains under investigation by the Auburn Police Division. Anyone with information related to this case is asked to contact the Auburn Police Division at 334-501-3140 or at the tip line, 334-246-1391.
