Auburn picked up yet another transfer on Tuesday night as former North Carolina linebacker Eugene Asante committed to the Tigers.

Asante was a former 4-star linebacker out of high school in 2019. Asante had 23 tackles in 12 games for the Tar Heels in 2021 and has two more years of eligibility.

For his career, Asante had 62 tackles over three seasons. The Virginia native had a career-high 10 tackles in Orange Bowl against Texas A&M in 2020.

Listed at 6-foot and 220 pounds, Asante adds needed depth at linebacker with the departure of Zakoby McClain and Chandler Wooten.

Asante is Auburn’s fifth pick-up from the transfer portal and the third defensive player.
