The Auburn Tigers have picked up former North Texas receiver Jyaire Shorter in the transfer portal. Shorter announced his commitment to Auburn on Tuesday in a Twitter post.
The 6-foot-2, 218-pound junior started in 11 games and played in 13 in the 2022 season at North Texas where he caught 23 passes for 11 touchdowns and 623 yards. In the 2022 season at North Texas, Shorter led the FBS in yards per catch with 27.2 yards per reception.
Shorter scored at least one touchdown in eight games for the Mean Green in 2022. He managed 51-yard, 45-yard and 30-yard touchdowns in 2022 at North Texas – all contributing to his impressive 27.2 yards per reception.
Coming out of high school, Shorter was rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports. He redshirted his first season at North Texas and made his first start in the 2019 season where he averaged 39.4 yards per game.
Shorter is the third wide receiver to commit to Auburn from the transfer portal under head coach Hugh Freeze, joining Caleb Burton (Ohio State) and Nick Mardner (Cincinnati), and is the fifth player to commit to play for the Tigers from the transfer portal since spring practice finished in April.
