Auburn has added Colorado defensive coordinator Charles Kelly to its defensive staff. An Auburn alum, Kelly will serve as a co-defensive coordinator and assistant coach for the Tigers' defense, as first reported by 247Sports.
Kelly served as the Colorado defensive coordinator and safeties coach in 2023. Prior to that, he was the associate defensive coordinator and safeties coach for Alabama from 2019-22. Kelly attended Auburn from 1986-89. Kelly's first collegiate coaching position came in 1993, when he was named a graduate assistant for Terry Bowden's Tigers.
In 2022 and 2023, Kelly was rated as a top-5 recruiter nationally by 247Sports, including being named the website's National Recruiter of the Year in 2023.
Kelly's addition comes following Auburn's Early Signing Day class that ranked No. 7 nationally, according to 247Sports. In his career, he has landed nine 5-star recruits, according to 247Sports.
