Auburn’s Honesty Scott-Grayson was named SEC Co-Player of the Week alongside Mississippi State’s Jessika Carter, it was announced Monday.
The SEC and the U.S. Basketball Writers Association acknowledged Scott-Grayson’s electric performance against No. 7 LSU on Sunday, Jan. 14. Helping end the Bayou Bengals' dominant 16-game win streak, the graduate’s 21 points solidified the Tiger’s 67-62 victory over the defending national champions.
Scott-Grayson posed to be a big problem for LSU’s defense, sinking shot after shot to keep Auburn in the mix but the difference maker was the guard’s layup at 6:34 in the second half – where the Tigers stole the lead and refused to give it back.
The 5-foot-9-inch guard was also named one of the five recipients of the USBWA Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week, among other notable names: Caitlin Clark (Iowa), Sara Bejedi (Florida State), Ayoka Lee (Kansas) and Anastasiia Boldyreva (Middle Tennessee).
In one week, the Brick, New Jersey native averaged 18.5 points, four rebounds, 1.5 assists and one steal over two games and averages 15.8 points per game this season – leading the team. Continuing her stellar season, Scott-Grayson has scored double-digits in 15 of the last 16 games she has played.
The Auburn Tigers continue in SEC play with a road trip to Nashville, Tennessee, where they will face the Vanderbilt Commodores on Thursday, Jan. 18, at 6:30 p.m. CST.
