Welcome to Campus, Class of 2028!
Every summer, I try to attend as many Camp War Eagle sessions as my coaching and recruiting schedule allows, to welcome you personally to the Plains. At each of these events, I give out my e-mail to all incoming freshmen, so that if I can help you connect to anything on campus and help make your experience better, I am happy to do that.
Most students and parents anticipate that my talk is going to be all about coming to Auburn sporting events, in reality it has nothing to do with that. My challenge to you is to take full advantage of the Auburn opportunity, the Auburn experience, and the Auburn Family.
That means that if you came here exclusively for academics – as important as they are – you are going to miss out on so much more that this wonderful place and its people have to offer. Auburn is big enough that you can do anything in the world. Anything is possible. It’s also small enough for you to be able to get involved in a very unique and special way. That’s one of the things that makes Auburn – Auburn.
The Auburn Creed is real. The Auburn Family is real.
I congratulate you on making the decision to come to Auburn, because you want to be around other great Auburn men and women. The choice to come to Auburn has already told me something about who you are and who you want to be – and that impresses me.
And yes, you do have an opportunity to be a part of the best student college fanbase in the country in the Jungle. Every time I walk into Jordan-Hare Stadium and see our students standing and comprising about 25 percent of the crowd, it never ceases to amaze me. I have witnessed firsthand how that support has been able to help our football team win games. And oh by the way, Coach Freeze is fixin’ to change some things – get ready to win big in the next few years.
As far as Neville Arena is concerned in men’s basketball, we have the best home court advantage in the country. Our students get there early and they have fun. They elevate the level of our play through their energy and intensity – often times intimidating and disrupting our opponents. It’s wild, it’s crazy, it’s the Jungle.
I want to encourage you, as you are looking at different things you can get involved in on campus, take a good look at the Jungle.
Have a great summer and we look forward to seeing you on campus this fall!
War Eagle,
Head Coach Bruce Pearl
