In anticipation of the 2024 season, junior Madison Scheer received preseason All-SEC honors, the league announced Wednesday morning. Auburn was also projected to finish 10th out of the newly expanded 15 teams in the SEC coaches’ poll.
During Scheer’s 2023 season, the outside hitter racked up career highs in kills (385); kills per set (3.35); hitting percentage (.263); points per set (3.60); total blocks (54); and blocks per set (0.46).
The Missouri native’s breakout sophomore season was highlighted by an AVCA National Player of the Week award — the second such honor in program history.
Scheer earned All-SEC Honors last season and was twice named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week after she hit .667% in Auburn’s upset win at No. 9 Florida and then again after her back-to-back 20-kill performance against Georgia and Alabama.

With defending national champion Texas slotted as the projected champion of the new SEC, Brent Crouch’s squad found themselves at 10th in the coaches’ picks after a fourth place finish in 2023.
In his four years as head coach, Crouch has led teams to outperform preseason poll expectations in each of the last three seasons.
With non-conference matchups yet to be announced, the Tigers are set to start SEC play on Friday, Sept. 27, inside of Neville Arena against defending conference champion Kentucky.
