With the Spring Transfer Portal window open, Auburn has had four players already go ahead and put their name in the portal. The three defensive backs are sophomore safety Terrance Love, redshirt freshman safety CJ Johnson and redshirt freshman cornerback JC Hart. Joining the defensive trio is redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Bradyn Joiner.

Love entered the portal just hours after the completion of the A-Day spring practice on Saturday. The former four-star recruit in the 2023 class out of powerhouse Langston Hughes just outside of Atlanta played in 21 games for Auburn in his career. He recorded eight total tackles playing sparingly at safety but mainly on special teams. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Early Monday, Johnson also entered the transfer portal. Johnson originally entered the portal during the winter portal window but ultimately came back just to end up transferring again a few months later. The former three-star in the 2023 class out of Texas redshirted his freshmen year but never saw any game action for the Tigers in his career.

On Monday afternoon, cornerback JC Hart also entered the portal. Hart was a three-star recruit in the 2023 class out of Loachapoka High School in Lee County, AL. He played in 15 games in his two years on the Plains but mainly on special teams. He recorded five total tackles in his career.

Then on Wednesday, Joiner joined the group of outgoing transfers after two seasons at Auburn. The 6-foot-2, 328 pound lineman made his first start during the Kentucky game and started the rest of the 2024 season. Joiner received All-SEC freshman team honors following last season.

Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze will have another opportunity to address roster needs when the spring transfer portal window opens, especially following recent losses to the team’s depth at defensive back and the potential for more departures. Freeze found success in last year’s spring portal cycle, most notably with the addition of wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith, who emerged as one of the Tigers’ top performers in 2024. It remains to be seen how Freeze and his staff will approach this year’s portal period and whether they can secure another impact addition.
