Auburn football will play Notre Dame in a home-and-home matchup in the 2027 and 2028 seasons as part of its non-conference schedule, the team announced Wednesday afternoon. The 2027 game will be hosted by Notre Dame in South Bend, and the 2028 matchup will be hosted by Auburn in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
The Tigers will head to South Bend, Indiana, on Sept. 25, 2027. The Fighting Irish will visit the Plains on Oct. 28, 2028.
The Fighting Irish should add a strong game to the Tigers’ resume for their non-conference schedule and will serve in the same way Baylor has this season and next — as a boost to both teams’ non-conference strength. With the new qualifications in the playoff selection process, these games will greatly help the strength of record for whichever team wins the matchup and, in turn, boost its resume for a possible playoff berth.
Auburn and Notre Dame have never faced each other, so the matchup will mark the first meeting between the two schools in their histories.
