Retired Gen. Thursday afternoon, Pulitzer Prize nominated author Jack Sacco spoke at the Auburn Public Library. Sacco spoke to promote his book, "Where the Birds Never Sing."Sacco, a native of Birmingham, has traveled around the world to endorse his book. He said he was invited to Vienna to speak in front of the royal family."Where the Birds Never Sing" tells the true story of an American liberator in World War II. The story told through the eyes of his father, Joe Sacco, who spent his time at the Dachau Concentration Camp in Germany. Sacco served his country and is responsible for the freeing of Holocaust prisoners. Sacco said his friends encouraged him to write the book.

Last Thursday, the women's soccer team traveled to Knoxville to take on the Tennessee Volunteers in one of the team's final matchups before the SEC Tournament in Orange Beach.The Auburn Tigers were victorious with a final score of 3-1, ruining Tennessee's senior night. This was Auburn's first win against Tennessee in Knoxville in five years.The Auburn team started off slow. Going into halftime, Tennessee was ahead 1-0.

Auburn Tigers Volleyball team (12-8, 4-5 SEC) fell to No. 9 Florida Gators (14-3, 8-2 SEC) Friday and defeated South Carolina (11-8, 3-7 SEC) 3-1 Sunday.The Tigers fell to the Gators 3-0 with scores of 19-25, 22-25 and 21-25.Although the Tigers came short of victory, head coach Wade Benson said he is proud of how the girls played."We could have and should have beaten Florida," Benson said.
Screaming fans, loud music and noisy drums echoed through the Student Activities Center Saturday for the annual War Eagle BEST competition.Middle school and high school students from across Alabama traveled to Auburn to compete in an intense robotics competition.Twenty-four teams participated in the event, which lasted nearly seven hours.Robby Ingenloff, a freshman at East Memorial Christian Academy, said this was his first BEST competition.
