Cheers came from the sidelines as the Auburn women's lacrosse Club ran up and down the field Saturday, beating the University of Tennessee 15-4.
Sarah Boyd, a mother of Auburn captain and club president, Elizabeth Boyd, said one of the players who stood out this game was the goalie, sophomore Stacie Busbin.
"Stacie Busbin is having a great game," Boyd said. "She's probably had six or seven saves in the first half."
Boyd said the team as a whole played well.
"Offense is passing the ball very well," Boyd said. "They're transitioning well."
Busbin, who had 22 saves, agreed with Boyd that the game went well.
"We were down some of our key players and we just really came through," Busbin said.
Boyd said Tennessee was a lot quicker than some of the teams Auburn has played this season.
"They're not as skilled as we are," Boyd said. "But they're a fast team, so this is a different look for them to play against."
Junior Meredith Noulis said she agreed it was a good match up between the two teams.
"We've played them for the past two years and, usually, it's a pretty good game," said Noulis, who plays defense.
Boyd said the team plays Savannah College of Art and Design, Clemson and Miami on April 4 in Savannah.
"They'll see quickness like this when they go to Savannah to play the Florida teams," Boyd said.
Noulis said the team was going to get ready for the games next week by continuing to work hard.
"Between now and then we just need to condition hard," Noulis said.
Busbin agreed with Noulis.
"We're going to come out and practice hard every day and continue working as a team," Busbin said. "We're going to keep playing with our hearts."
The Tigers look to remain undefeated after their road trip to Savannah to take on Clemson.
