Men's Tennis splits at Blue Gray National Tennis Classic

The Auburn men’s tennis team participated in the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic in Montgomery, AL this weekend.

The Tiger’s lost their first match 4-3 against Texas Tech on Friday.

Despite winning the doubles point, the Tigers lost four out of six singles matches.

Senior Lukas Ollert and sophomore Oliver Plaskett were the lone singles victors, while sophomores Maxime Hinnisdaels and Dante Saleh coupled with juniors Marko Krickovic and Joseph Van Dooren failed to secure singles points.

Ollert defeated his opponent Felipe Soares by a score of 7-5 7-5. Plaskett was able to beat Connor Curry in three sets 3-6, 7-5, 6-1.

Hinnisdaels and Saleh won their doubles match 6-4 after the pair of Ollert and Van Dooren finished their opponents 6-3.

Saturday, the Tigers defeated the No. 57 Boise State Broncos 4-1.

Auburn won both first and third court doubles by scores of 6-2 and 6-4 respectively. Krickovic and Plaskett won on the first court while Hinnisdaels and Saleh won on the third.

The Tigers lone singles loss went to Van Dooren by a score of 6-4 6-0.

Ollert, Krickovic, Hinnisdaels, Saleh, and sophomore Petar Tomic defeated their opponents in straight sets.

Auburn was set to take on No. 20 Mississippi State Sunday, but due to rain, the match was cancelled.

Despite breaking their seven match win streak, the Tigers move to 10-2 on the year and have yet to lose at home this season.

The next match for the tigers is scheduled for Thursday Feb. 26, in Auburn. The Tigers are set to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks in their SEC opener.
