The baseball team beat SEC opponent South Carolina 3-0 Sunday, May 3, in the final game of a three-game series.
The second day of the 2015 NFL Draft is over, and Auburn’s Sammie Coates leads the former Tiger hopefuls off getting selected by the Pittsburg Steelers in the third round (pick 23, 87th overall). Coates, who led the Tigers in receiving with 741 yards in 2014, and averaged 21.8 yards per reception, ran a 4.43 40-yd dash at the NFL combine.
The Auburn baseball team faced the Kennesaw State Owls Wednesday. The 29-16 Tigers beat the 25-20 Owls 6-0 on Star Wars night. Senior right-hander Robby Clements got the start for the fourth time this season.
The Tigers (27-16) took on Georgia (21-21) Thursday in the first game of three to be played this weekend.
The Tigers’ baseball team played Ole Miss Saturday, April 18th in a double header that saw the games split with the first going to Ole Miss.
Last year’s Auburn team struggled to get to the quarterback. The leader in sacks among defensive linemen, DeVonte Lambert, is gone along with Gabe Wright and Angelo Blackson. Redshirt freshman defensive lineman Dontavius Russell will look to make those players’ departures the opportunity he’s waited a year for a shot at. “Last year was difficult because I felt like I had the ability to play,” Russell said.
The Auburn men’s tennis team took on Vanderbilt Thursday in College Station, Texas for the second round of the SEC tournament.
In Columbia, S.C., the Auburn women’s tennis team lost 4-0 to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the second round of the SEC tournament.
Auburn’s men’s tennis team hit the road Wednesday as they played the Arkansas Razorbacks in College Station.
