Auburn women’s tennis team falls to 6th ranked Georgia

The Auburn women’s tennis team faced Georgia Sunday, March 8, after beating Tennessee 4-0 on Friday, March 6.

The Tigers were not a successful against the Bulldogs as they were beaten 4-1.

The 39th ranked Tigers received one point by way of doubles. The eighth ranked doubles pair of senior Emily Flickenger and junior Pleun Burgmans defeated Georgia’s 25th ranked pair of Lauren Herring and Ellen Perez by a score of 8-7.

Juniors Paula de Man and Michala Kucharova won their third court doubles match 8-4.

In singles, each spot in the Tigers' line up played someone ranked in the top 115 players in the nation.

Freshman Andie Dikosavljevic lost her match to Georgia’s Kennedy Shaffer 6-3 6-4.

Despite winning their respective doubles matches, Flickenger and de Man both lost in singles on courts three and four.

Senior Jen Pfleifler lost her singles match in three sets by a score of 2-6, 6-1, 6-2.

The Tigers are set to play their next match against Mississippi State on Friday, March 13, in Starkville. The Tigers are 11-5 to this point in the season with a 1-3 conference record.
