Junior Emily Carosone was named the USA Softball Collegiate National Player of the Week, one day after being honored as the SEC Softball Player of the Week.

Carosone has led Auburn to a school-record 25-2 record, including a weekend trip out west where the Tigers picked up four wins, including two over ranked opponents — No. 22 Arizona State and No. 13 Arizona — in the Judi Garman Classic. She batted .526 and collected 10 hits over the five-game weekend, six of which went for extra bases. In the game against Arizona, the highest-ranked opponent Auburn has ever beaten, Carosone went 3-for-4 at the plate, including a double and a home run.

Carosone becomes the second Auburn player to ever win a national player of the week award, after Kristen Keyes won the National Fastpitch Coaches Association National Player of the Week award in 2004.

The junior is batting .493 on the season, good for second in the SEC. She leads the conference in slugging percentage, with 1.013, and in runs scored, with 40. Carosone is also tied for the conference lead in extra-base hits with 18.

Auburn will be back in action Wednesday, March 11, when the Tigers travel to Troy.
