Women’s tennis beats Missouri 7-0

Auburn’s women’s tennis team beat the Missouri Tigers 7-0 on Friday, April 10, marking their third conference win of the season.

Fifth-ranked doubles pair of junior Pleun Burgmans and senior Emily Flickinger defeated Missouri’s court one team 8-5.

On court three; senior Jen Pfeifler and sophomore Reka Muller won 8-3 as the Auburn Tigers secured the doubles point.

Burgmans won 6-2, 6-1 on court one while the freshman Andie Dikosavljevic won 6-4, 6-4 on the second court.

Flickinger beat Missouri’s court three player in a close match that finished 6-3, 7-5.

Muller, on court four, beat Missouri’s Brittany Lashway 6-4, 6-0. Junior Paula de Man won on court five by a score of 6-1, 6-1 earning her 10th win of the season.

Pfeifler won a close match on court six that ended up going to a third set tiebreaker that ended 6-7, 6-3 (11-9).

Friday’s win brings the Tigers’ overall record to 15-11 and 3-9 against SEC competition.

The next match for Auburn is scheduled for Sunday, April 12, at 1 p.m. in Auburn. The Tigers are looking for a big win against the Arkansas Razorbacks before the start of SEC Tournament play.
