Former Auburn basketball assistant Tony Jones was hired as the interim head coach of the Windsor Express on Tuesday, July 14.

Jones’ brother, Bill, is the director of basketball operations for the Express.

Bill Jones was suspended from head coaching duties because of a fight prior to game seven of the NBL Canada championship series last spring.

Tony Jones said the opportunity to work with his brother is something that is very enticing.

“We haven’t been together for a year in over 25 years,” Tony said. “Either I was coaching collegiately, he was playing professionally at different levels, or he was coaching.

Tony Jones will use the year-long job as Windsor’s head coach as an opportunity to try to land another head coaching job, either professionally or collegiately.
