Women's basketball rolls to 2-0

The Auburn women’s basketball team kept the ball rolling with win number two over Southeastern Louisiana, 80-68. Auburn’s win featured a 25-0 run in the first quarter, which lifted them to a comfortable win.

Auburn used its press well in the bayou, and the 25-point run was much to the credit of the defense. In the first half, the Lady Lions went just 8/25, a true testament to the defensive mind of Coach Williams-Flournoy.

Brandy Montgomery led the team with 22 points, including a trio of 3-pointers coming in the first half, with team leaders Tra’Cee Tanner and Katie Frerking scoring double digits as well.

Frerking led the team with 6 rebounds. Tanner and Jazmine Jones both had 5 rebounds.

Coming off the bench, freshman Janiah McKay produced again after her impressive outing in Auburn’s home opener, contributing 14 points.

Auburn started out quickly against the Lady Lions, outscoring the team 46-27 in the first half. But, the Tigers were forced to fend off a late game rally and held on.

Auburn will face the University of Virginia Cavaliers in the Auburn Arena this Thursday. Tip-off is set for November 19th @ 6:00pmCT.
