GAINESVILLE, Fla.—After having his best game of the season last week versus Mississippi State, Auburn true freshman quarterback Bo Nix looked his age Saturday in The Swamp against No. 10 Florida.

Nix threw three interceptions, and missed many more throws, as No. 7 Auburn fell flat at Florida dropping its first game of the season 24-13.

In a game that saw the ball turned over seven times between both teams combined, the Auburn offense finished with its 13th-worst performance under a Gus Malzahn offense in his 14 years of college football. The Tigers with 269 yards of total offense, 124 on the ground, but were 2-of-14 on third down and averaged just 4.4 yards per play.

Auburn finished with nine penalties for 70 yards.

After three quarters of sloppy play from both offenses, Lamical Perine's 88-yard touchdown run was the difference. The Auburn defensive front, until then, had bottled up the Florida ground attack but the secondary allowed 266 passing yards.

Florida quarterback Kyle Trask finished 19-of-31 for 234 yards and two touchdowns. Nix finished 11-of-27 for 145 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.

JaTarvious Whitlow led the Tigers with 18 carries for 81 yards rushing, while Seth Williams was the leading receiver with four receptions for 79 yards and one touchdown.

Auburn drops to 5-1 overall, 2-1 in conference play, and Florida stays undefeated on the season, 3-0 in the SEC, before facing LSU on Oct. 12 in Death Valley.
