Auburn football head coach Bryan Harsin announced Saturday that tight end J.J. Pegues is moving to the defensive line.
Pegues is listed at 6-foot-3, 308 pounds and his positon on Auburn’s official roster has already been changed to defensive tackle. As a freshman last year, Pegues was used in a variety of sets including passing, catching and rushing.
Pegues totaled seven catches for 57 yards and five carries for 14 yards in 11 games. Now, instead of catching passes from Auburn, Pegues will be tasked with stopping opposing quarterbacks.
“I think the position for J.J. is going to be a good fit,” Harsin said.
Harsin also noted that while Pegues is working at defensive tackle, his position is subject to change “according to what the front is.”
