The Associated Press announced its latest Top 25 poll following Week 8 of the 2021 college football season.

Even with a bye week this past weekend, a few upsets across the nation poised Auburn to move up to No. 18 in the latest poll.

There have been shakeups in the polls each week this season and Week 8 was no different, seeing a couple of Top 10 teams fall.

Previously-ranked No. 7 Penn State suffered a 20-18 loss to unranked Illinois at home in a nine-overtime thriller. It was the first game in FBS history to reach nine overtimes.

Meanwhile, Iowa State fans rushed the field after the Cyclones upset previously-ranked No. 8 Oklahoma State, handing the Cowboys their first loss of the season.

The Top 10 losses enabled Auburn's next opponent, Ole Miss, to move into the Top 10 for the first time since 2015, when the Rebels were ranked as high as No. 3 at one point during the season. In the latest poll, Ole Miss is ranked as the No. 10 team in the nation.

Coastal Carolina's loss to Appalachian State last Wednesday set the Tigers up for a bump of one spot, moving from No. 19 to No. 18.

Saturday's game between Auburn and Ole Miss will be the first time since 2014 where both teams are ranked. That year in Oxford, Mississippi, No. 7 Ole Miss lost 35-31 to No. 4 Auburn.

There are six SEC teams in the Top 25, with three of them now breaching the Top 10. It's the most ranked teams in the Top 25 by a single conference. That list includes No. 1 Georgia, No. 3 Alabama, No. 10 Ole Miss, No. 12 Kentucky, No. 14 Texas A&M and No. 18 Auburn.
