Auburn senior placekicker Anders Carlson has an injured ACL and will miss the remainder of the season, Bryan Harsin announced on Monday. Carlson will have surgery this week.
The injury is thought to have occurred during Auburn's onside kick attempt late in the fourth quarter against Mississippi State, where Carlson was one of several players that went after the ball.
When Carlson emerged from the pile of tacklers, the 6-foot-5 kicker limped to the Auburn sideline.
It could be a potential career-ending injury, if Carlson does not return for his extra season of eligibility that was acquired during the COVID-stricken 2020 season.
If this is the end of Carlson's Auburn career, it ends an eight-year streak of having one Carlson on the roster. Anders' brother, Daniel, kicked at Auburn from 2013-2017.
Throughout his career at Auburn, Anders made 72% of his kicks, with his breakout season coming last year in 2020. During that season, he made 20 of his 22 field goal attempts.
Earlier this season, Anders passed Wes Byrum for second-most made field goals in Auburn history. His brother Daniel holds the record with 92, while Anders is No. 2 on the list with 67.
