Auburn athletics review: Nov. 7-13

Auburn was busy both on the road and at home this week, as various teams collected a number of wins. Here's where the Tigers were in action this week and how they fared:

Monday, Nov. 7

Men's basketball vs George Mason

Bruce Pearl and the men’s basketball team continued to start the season strong with a win over George Mason. Wendell Green Jr. led the Tigers in scoring with 15 points, followed by K.D. Johnson with 12 points. The defense held the Jaguars to only 52, finishing 70-52. Auburn is currently ranked No. 15. 

Tuesday, Nov. 8

Women’s basketball vs. Sam Houston

Head coach Johnnie Harris led the women’s basketball team to a 90-76 win over Sam Houston. Aicha Coulibaly paved the way for Tigers with 24 points and ten rebounds.

Wednesday, Nov. 9

No games. 

Thursday, Nov. 10

Women's basketball vs. South Alabama

The Tigers continued their winning streak at home against the Jaguars. With three players out and head coach Harris out due to illness, the team still won 71-62. Freshman guard Kaitlyn Duhon finished with 17 points and a field goal percentage of 63.6%

Friday, Nov. 11

Men’s Basketball vs. USF

The Tigers defeated USF 67-59. The Tiger’s energy was undeniable on the court, with Wendell Green Jr. leading the team with 20 points. Allen Flanigan followed close behind with 18, so the duo combined for 28 points. Auburn will host Windthrop on Nov. 15. 

Cross Country NCAA South Regional 

The Tigers traveled to Huntsville Ala. for NCAA Regionals. The men’s team took fifth overall in the 10K and the women’s team placed 11th overall in the 6K. Junior Ryan Kinnane placed sixth in the men’s 10K with a time of 29:33.20. For the women's team, Samatha Rodgers led the pack with a time of 20:07.10, taking 16th place. 

Equestrian vs. Texas A&M

The No. 4 Tigers won at home against No. 5 Texas A&M. They took down the Aggies 10-6, led by Olivia Tordoff, Ellie Ferrigno, and Mary-Grace Segars all receiving MOP rides. On Nov. 18, they will host the defending national champion Oklahoma State and Bridgewater at home. 

Volleyball at Ole Miss

The Tigers defeated the Rebels in four sets, going 3-1. Leading the team with 15 kills Madison Sheer helped seal this victory. On the defensive end, Kendel Kemp completed nine blocks, shutting down the Rebels. The Tiger's record is now 21-5 and will travel to play South Carolina Nov. 23.

Saturday, Nov. 12

Football vs. Texas A&M

Head coach Carnell “Cadillac” Williams led the team to their first win since the staffing changes, a sellout of Jordan-Hare Stadium despite the weekend's cool temperatures. The Tigers defeated the Aggies 13-10 and will host Western Kentucky Saturday.
