On Dec. 16, 2025, Auburn Athletics announced the launch of War Eagle Mobile, a cell service option designed for Auburn students, alumni, faculty and fans. The Auburn-specific cell phone service plan has been created in conjunction with Collegiate Mobile, which utilizes the T-Mobile 5G Network.
“War Eagle Mobile support helps ensure that the Auburn Athletics program remains a powerhouse competitor now and for generations to come by fueling student-athletes, building championship programs and securing a future where Auburn competes at the highest level,” Auburn Sports Properties General Manager Ben Harling said in the press release for the cell service.
Every bill payment for War Eagle Mobile automatically contributes to AU Athletics, scholarships or student funds. For Auburn fans specifically, the service starts at $20 a month for 5 GB of data. In contrast, the most expensive package, Unlimited Max with unlimited data, 30 GB of high-speed data and international calling, costs $45 a month. The student low-cost Essentials plan starts at $15 a month.
For Auburn University employees, all plans cost a dollar more than standard student pricing. Taxes and fees are included in the pricing shown here, but other plan options and details are available on the War Eagle Mobile website.
Despite being called War Eagle Mobile, the actual wireless cell phone service is powered by the T-Mobile 5G Network. Collegiate Mobile, the company Auburn is contracting with to create the service, is using T-Mobile’s Your Name, Our Wireless program, launched in 2024. The program allows Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs), like Collegiate Mobile, to operate their own wireless service while on T-Mobile’s network.
Collegiate Mobile currently partners with nine schools, including UC Berkeley, the University of Kentucky, the University of Washington and more. The provider states it is easier than ever to switch cellular plans: All you need to do is check your coverage, pick a plan and activate your subscription by either keeping your current number or getting a new one.
Each school partnering with Collegiate Mobile has created a unique name for its services. For example, the University of Utah is calling its service Ute Mobile, while UC San Diego has chosen Tritons Mobile for its service.
With War Eagle Mobile, 7% of the monthly charge is given to the Auburn Athletics fund associated with the service. In addition to the internet connectivity, War Eagle Mobile Customers also receive VIP perks and free giveaways.
“With every dollar you spend, you help recruit top talent, strengthen programs and keep the Tigers at the top of their game. Add in exclusive game day perks and unforgettable War Eagle experiences, and you’re not just a fan – you’re part of the team. Choose War Eagle Mobile. Because real tigers don’t just cheer from the sidelines — they power the program from within,” reads the official War Eagle Mobile information page.
With the VIP perks, War Eagle Mobile claims customers can "score" every home game. These perks include access to hospitality lounges, pre-game field access, signed items and more. War Eagle Mobile also announced that customers can even “score free seats” with their wireless phone plan at Jordan-Hare Stadium and other sporting events.
The announcement on social media fostered some discussion among Auburn fans and outsiders alike, with one user begging Auburn to win games rather than creating a wireless cell service to boost NIL funding.
“I love you. But please just win some football games,” @barnsalot said via X on Dec. 16, 2025.
Another X user even decided to compare Auburn football’s ability to catch the football to the potential effectiveness of the service.
“Will cell service be dropped at crucial times?” another commentator, @Logan_Hurley13, said.
