Public Safety sent out an email at approximately 9:13 p.m. stating it received an anonymous call that could have been taken as a threat to the University. Public Safety also stated in the email the threat does not appear to be credible, but students may see an increased police presence tonight. Auburn Police Division will send officers to patrol the campus. "We are sending this email to ask that each of you be vigilant and report anything suspicious to Auburn Police at (334) 501-3100 or dial 911," stated the email. Updates to follow.

Auburn University shattered a rare ecological system when it gave land for a new medical college, leaving only “fragments,” according to John Kush, professor of biological sciences. The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine building, which began construction in February 2013, sits atop 15 of 21 acres in a plot of land which Kush said was managed by the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences since the 1950s.

Amanda Hurite, UPC president and senior in industrial engineering, said she expects a positive student reaction to the Comedy on the Plains announcement. “Parks and Recreation is just wrapping up and Ron Swanson, Nick Offerman’s character has been pretty big in the media right now,” Hurite said.
There was no old business so Brandon Honeywell, of the College of Science and Mathematics and junior in biomedical science presented the first order of business, which addressed the Chapter 201 code of laws amendment. “This is asking for an amendment just reflecting the language of the position of the executive cabinet, which is the executive vice president of marketing and engagement, which is Ms. Ivy Sibley,” Honeywell said. The motion was made and all ruled in favor.

The annual Big Event kicked off this morning with 2,050 volunteers rallied in the Student Center Ballroom before being sent to 200 work sites, according to Michael Waldrum, junior in business and director of the Big Event. Behind the scenes, 165 team members worked to recruit volunteers and job sites among other tasks leading up to the event. “Every year is unique in its own way,” Waldrum said.

A female Auburn student collided with a Tiger Transit bus at the Mell Street Loop at approximately 10:30 a.m.

A sexual assault of a female by an acquaintance was reported in the late afternoon Wednesday, March 11, according to an email from The Auburn University Department of Public Safety & Security. The assault occurred in a residence hall Monday night or early Tuesday morning.
A student fell from his skateboard this morning near the Student Center, according to Captain Lorenza Dorsey of the Auburn Police Division. Officials responded to the scene and the student is being treated for a laceration at East Alabama Medical Center.
