Pet owners in Lee County have a new place to board their dogs and get them groomed. Kiesel Bark, pet sitter, groomer and kennel, is located across from Kiesel Park on Lee County Road 51. They are open from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. during the work week and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturdays for normal business. Sundays, they are open from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. for drop off and pick up for boarding.

Homes become businesses under new Cottage Food Law

Behind the closed doors of a home in an Auburn neighborhood, a new business opportunity is being discovered. Cindy Thrash opens her double oven in her spotless, white, monogrammed apron and sticks a toothpick in two angel food cakes. A few moist crumbs stick to the wooden toothpick. She shuts the door and puts five more minutes on the timer.

Items stolen from historic train depot

Auburn's Industrial Development Board (IDB) installed the fence around Auburn's historic train depot after they noticed light fixtures, doorknobs and metal mail slots were missing, according to Megan McGowen, deputy economic development director with the city of Auburn.

Pat Dye's hunting lodge puts on Blue Jean Ball

For those not inclined to black tie events, there's a more relaxed ball coming to town. The 14th annual Blue Jean Ball will be held Friday, Sept. 26, at Pat Dye's hunting lodge, Crooked Oaks. Festivities will include a birds of prey presentation from the College of Veterinary Medicine's Southeastern Raptor Center, silent and live auctions, tours of Pat Dye's home, dinner and music.

OPINION: Avoid the ghost of your Internet past

It's easy to forget sometimes that every move we make online is recorded and essentially kept forever. Every drunk text, regrettable tweet and out of focus Instagram photo is sitting on servers in air conditioned rooms in nondescript office buildings all across the country.

The Photo XVI will be held a the Dempsey Center and the gallery will be shown from Oct. 15 until Nov. 21.

Auburn Arts Association holds 16th annual photography competition

The Auburn Arts Association and the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center will be hosting a juried photography exhibition and competition. The contest is called Photo XVI, and the Dempsey Center has been holding the show every fall since they opened 16 years ago. Each photographer can submit three pieces, and all submissions must be turned in by Oct. 9. Chosen photographs will be shown in the from Oct. 15-Nov. 21. The exhibition is open to all photographers 17 years and older.

RV subculture brings temporary homes to the Plains

It's Friday, and like other home football game weekends, RVs have been piling onto University Station's more than 500 lots all week. Near the entrance, pop-up tailgates and TVs tuned to ESPN are packed side by side.

Local chefs donate time to March of Dimes

For the third year in a row, the March of Dimes of East Alabama will bring together Auburn's top local chefs to display their culinary expertise for the Signature Chefs Auction. This auction is set to take place Sept. 16 at the Auburn University Club on Yarborough Farms Boulevard. Similar events have taken place across the country for the past 20 years led by various March of Dimes chapters. Chefs from local restaurants, such as Acre, Zazu's Gastropub and Hamilton's on Magnolia will provide samples to guests.

This past year, downtown Auburn acquired a variety of new restaurants, such as BurgerFi and Uncle Maddio's, but now, it's losing one. Zazu Gastropub is moving from its downtown location on East Magnolia Avenue to a new Opelika location in on 112 S. 8th St.

Uber must abide by same regulations as other taxis in Auburn (updated)

Auburn taxi owners want the Auburn City Council to stop Uber. Jeff Steiger, owner of taxi company KGM Auburn Trax, spoke on behalf of other taxi companies to the City Council at the Tuesday, Sept. 9, council meeting and asked the City Council to apply taxi regulations to Uber.
