EDITORIAL: Overhyping leads to higher expectations

Before the season started, we hired a new defensive coordinator, Will Muschamp, and until this past Tuesday, Sept. 23, when it was announced Sean White would be the starting quarterback for this weekend’s game against Mississippi State, our starting quarterback, Jeremy Johnson, was projected to be a star.

EDITORIAL: Learn to agree to disagree

There have been several controversial issues consuming the citizens of our country over the past few months.  The controversy of the Confederate flag, the legalization of same-sex marriage, gun control and police brutality are only a few examples.  Another popular issue which has been highly disputed lately is Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce.

EDITORIAL: Lack of gun control may hurt our citizens

An unfortunate fact is people commit heinous crimes. For those who are clearly guilty, is it not uncommon for one to claim their actions were  because of mental health issues.  James Holmes, who killed 12 people and injured 70 more in a Colorado movie theater in 2012, plead not guilty because of insanity, but was still found guilty last week.

EDITORIAL: Scalping the Auburn Family

With the start of Auburn University’s 2015 football season less than two months away, the excitement of one of Auburn’s most beloved traditions is quickly escalating.             To add to the usual buzz that seems to overwhelm the student body around this time, this year we have a new defensive coordinator as well as a new scoreboard coming up which is record breaking in size.

Auburn Family slogan simply doesn’t hit home

We don’t define our realities from the beginning. Our families train the eyes that see right from wrong, they shape the mouth that learns what is appropriate and what is best left unsaid and they try their best to position the feet that eventually walk to what we would define as a successful life. Isn’t that what family means — shelter, support, belonging and love?

Editorial: The downside of upscale living

Finding a decent place to live shouldn't be part of what makes college difficult. Paying tuition, maintaining a good GPA, avoiding alcohol poisoning -- these should be high on your list of college-related concerns. Worrying whether or not you'll have to spend part of the semester in a hotel should be low on that list.

Editorial: Students vote apathy in SGA election

It's that wonderful time of year when students can be seen panhandling for their SGA candidate of choice. Forced away from their natural habitat, these groups must form homogenous blobs of baggy, pastel-colored shirts and block off sections of the Concourse in order to survive.

It's time to spread the power of pink

Cancer is a quiet, creeping threat from within. It's a thing this world could do without. It takes from us our friends, our neighbors and our families. If it's not breast cancer, it's cancer of the skin, lung, blood, pancreas, prostate, colon, throat or any other vital thing.
