Pocket Points app benefiting students coming spring 2016

Pocket Points, a new, free mobile app, is impacting universities all over the United States, rewarding students for staying off their phones during class. It works by opening the application then locking the phone. The longer the phone is locked while the student is in class, the more points are accumulated.

Greek life networking app strives to connect greeks nationally

GoGreekNow, an app founded by Sigma Chi fraternity brothers from Iowa State University, strives to be an “all-encompassing, one-stop shop” for Greek life across the country, according to co-founder Mark Hagen. Hagen and Nick Scott, who were roommates and good friends in college, began developing GoGreekNow in fall 2014 and officially launched the app in April 2015. Living in different cities after college, Scott said he and Hagen kept in touch.

BigHouse plans to transform bus into closet for foster families

More than 6,000 children are currently in foster care in Alabama.Foster families receive a stipend equal to less than $14 per day per child. Micah Melnick and her husband, Blake Melnick, who received his Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from Auburn, are working to help these families through their organization, BigHouse Foundation.
