James Brandon Lassiter of Auburn died on Wednesday after being pinned underneath his car while performing repairs on it, according to a release from the Auburn Police Divison.
At about 2:15 p.m. on Jan. 31, police responded to an emergency medical assist call at a home in the 700 block of Davis Court.
Officers and personnel from the Auburn Fire Division and EAMC emergency services arrived at the residence and discovered Lassiter trapped under a vehicle.
They removed him from under the car, performed CPR and tried other life-saving measures, police said. However, the attempts were unsuccessful, and at 2:30 p.m. Lee County coroner Bill Harris pronounced Lassiter deceased.
Lassiter was 33 years old.
Police said their preliminary investigation indicates that Lassiter's death was accidental. The case remains under investigation by APD and the Lee County Coroner's Office.
